ANY STUDENT BRINGING A COMPUTER TO CAMPUS IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS :
You can now PRE-REGISTER your computer from home for the Rowan Fall Semester at http://www.rowan.edu/cr
In order to ease the transition from summer into the new semester, Network and System Services is offering you the ability to register your computer from home BEFORE arriving on campus.
Please visit http://www.rowan.edu/cr and run through the registration process. If you register your computer NOW, you can be sure that your computer passes the registration requirements prior to the start of the semester.
Registration will be effective for two weeks from the date you register. As long as your computer is on-campus and connected to the Rowan network before the two week time period expires, you will not have to go through the registration process again.
Registration is required for students who will have any computer connected to the wired network or the RowanWPA wireless network, commuter or resident. Commuters bringing a laptop on campus, for example, will have to pass registration to use the Rowan Network. Registration is not required for off-campus users connecting to Rowan via the VPN or SecureFX (FTP).
As we've mentioned in a previous email, the registration process requires that Windows computers have the most current Windows Critical Updates and have a NON-DEMO / NON-TRIAL VERSION of ANY of the following antivirus programs:
* AVG
* Avast!
* Avira
* CA Antivirus
* Eset NOD32
*F-Prot
* F-Secure
* Kaspersky (All versions)
* McAfee
* Microsoft OneCare
* Norton (All versions)
* Panda
* Sophos
* Symantec Corporate
* Trend Micro (All versions)
* Webroot AV
* ZoneAlarm Internet Security
Once again, we offer a free, licensed version of Trend Micro Internet Security available to all students that can be downloaded from www.rowan.edu/download.
Macintosh and Linux computers do not have to meet any additional software requirements to pass registration. MAC users should just run Software Update to make sure your computer has the latest patches before attempting to register.
You can find instructions and automated installers for connecting to Rowan’s Secure Wireless Network here: http://www.rowan.edu/toolbox/network/wireless/ You may want to download the appropriate installer or print out the instructions before coming to campus in order to make things easier once you arrive.
If you need any help with this process, please email support@rowan.edu or visit http://support.rowan.edu to login and enter a work order. Include your type of machine, the failure message and your Rowan user ID (if you're not sending it from your Rowan account).
If you have any other questions, please email nss@rowan.edu
