Printer Installation for MAC OS 10.4x or higher
Open the Finder program. For OS 10.4x, click Go on the Finder menu bar and select Utilities. For OS 10.5x or higher click the Apple then click System Preference. 
In the Utilities or System Preference window click Printer Setup Utility.
Click the Add icon. The Printer List will display. 
At the top of the window click IP Printer. Line Printer Daemon - LPD will be in the Protocol field. In the Address field enter the IP address and press the enter key. At the bottom of the screen the IP address will auto-populate. Type the location of the printer in the Location field. The Print Using field will auto populate with the name of the network printer or Generic Postscript Printer. If Generic Postscript Printer displays you must add the driver (see Adding the Print Driver). Click Add. 
The Installable Options window will display. Click the Continue. 
The Printer List window will appear with the recently added printer. If the user requires this to be the default printer click requested printer once, then click Make Default on the menu. 
Adding the Print Driver
This section only pertains to Generic PostScript Printers
Click once to highlight the Generic Postscript Printer in the Printer List window. Click the Show Info icon on the Printer List menu
In the Print Info window click the drop down menu on the Name and Location filed then select Printer Model.
Click the Generic PostScript Printer drop down menu to display a list of printers. Choose the make of the printer, for example HP. 
Scroll and click once on the correct model of the printer then click Apply Changes. Close the Print Info Window. Close all other windows. Open an application and send a test print.
