  1. Go to portal.office.com in your web browser.
  2. On the right hand side there will be a prompt to log in with a school account. Type your Rowan email address in the email address field. Note: You do not need an account with Microsoft or a password for this field as it will redirect you to another login page after typing in your email address.



  3. You will be immediately redirected you Rowan's single sign-on service. Enter your Rowan NetID and click Login.



  4. After logging in, you'll be brought to the Office 365 portal. Click Install Office 2016 to download the Office 2016 installer.



  5. Follow the instructions provided in the window and wait for the installer to download and open the .pkg file to start the install process.



  6. Open the downloads tab by holding down Option + Command +J and click the magnifying glass or navigate to the path in Finder where the installer was downloaded to.



  7. Right-click on the installer and click Open to avoid being blocked by GateKeeper since it wasn't downloaded from the App Store. Right-clicking and selecting Open will provide the option to open the installer from an unidentified developer.



  8. Click Open.



  9. Click Continue.



  10. On the software license agreement, click Continue.



  11. Click Agree to accept the software license agreement.



  12. Click Install.



  13. Click on Install for all users on this computer and then click Continue.



  14. The installer will prompt for the local Mac account you use to sign in to your machine. Type the password for the account and hit Install Software.



  15. When the install is successful, hit Close.



  16. Navigate to the Applications folder and launch one of the Office 2016 applications, like Microsoft Word



  17. When you first launch Word, you'll need to sign in to activate your Office 2016 license. Click Work Account.



  18. To sign in, type in your Rowan email address and click Next



  19. Within the window, it'll redirect to Rowan's single sign-on service. Enter your Rowan NetID and click Login



  20. After logging in, it will begin activating. Once it is finished, the following window will appear. Click Start Using Word.



  21. You can now use any of the licensed Office products on your computer.
