Zoom: Quick Start Guide
Zoom experts host free and interactive live training webinars daily. Get up to speed in less than an hour https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/360029527911
NOTE: All Zoom meetings must now have passwords, including meetings you may have already scheduled and personal meeting rooms. This is a requirement imposed by Zoom and supported by Rowan University to further enhance security and prevent uninvited users from joining meetings.

1. Prepare to use Zoom
Before you can use Zoom, you must activate your Zoom account by logging into rowan.zoom.us
You can then install the Zoom software on your device by going to the Zoom Download Center or clicking "Download" in the footer on the rowan.zoom.us page.
It's a good idea to install that software ahead of time so it doesn't delay your first meeting; however, if you haven't yet done that, Zoom will automatically start downloading the application to your device. You'll need to install it before you can start a meeting.
You can also download the Zoom Desktop Client for Mac, Windows, ChromeOS and Linux, as well as the Zoom Mobile App for iOS and Android.
Once installed, you can log in using the desktop client or mobile app.
You must select "Sign In with SSO" and log in with your Rowan account when using the client or mobile app.
2. Log In to Zoom
You can log in to your Rowan Zoom account by going to rowan.zoom.us and logging in with your Rowan network username and password. Once you're logged in, use the panel on the left side to navigate the Zoom web portal. You can update your profile, schedule a meeting, edit your settings, and more.
3. Update your profile
- Sign in to the Rowan Zoom Portal.
- Click Profile.
- You can update your profile by adding a profile picture, set your time zone, update your password and more.
4. Schedule your first meeting
There are many ways to schedule a meeting, including the Rowan Zoom portal, through the Zoom client, or with an extension or plugin. Here are some basic instructions for scheduling your first meeting.
- Sign in to the Rowan Zoom Portal.
- Click Meetings.
- Click Schedule a Meeting.
- Choose the date and time for your meeting.
- (Optional) Select any other settings you would like to use.
- Click Save.
5 Start a test meeting
You can join a test Zoom meeting to familiarize yourself with the Zoom and test your microphone/speakers before joining a Zoom meeting. Visit zoom.us/test and click Join.
6. Invite others to join your meeting
Inviting others to join your meeting is as simple as sharing the invitation or join link. You can do this after scheduling your meeting by:
- Clicking the meeting to view the meeting details.
- You can then Copy the Invitation to share it. For security purposes, please do not post the meeting link publicly or to social media.
7. Host a Meeting
Please see the "Host a Meeting" section in the Zoom User Guide for detailed information on adjusting audio and video options, sharing, chat, managing participants and using breakout rooms.
As the meeting host, there are several ways you can start your meeting. Your upcoming meetings will be listed in the Meetings tab of your Zoom desktop client or mobile app. You can click Start by the meeting name. You can also start your meetings from the Zoom web portal.
- Login to My Meetings.
- Under Upcoming Meetings, click Start next to the meeting you want to start.
- The Zoom client should launch automatically to start the meeting.
8. Join another user's meeting
There are many ways to join a meeting, but the easiest way is to click the join link that the meeting host provided. You can also click Join a Meeting at rowan.zoom.us and enter the meeting ID.
