Duo text message codes are being phased out starting early next year to better protect Rowan University from scams. We strongly recommend you set up the Duo Mobile app or a hardware token now to prepare.

In the event that your existing Duo device is lost, stolen, broken, misplaced or otherwise unavailable, you can request a temporary 24-hour Duo bypass code in Rowan NetID.

To request a bypass code when you don't have any of your enrolled Duo devices available (If you have a Duo device available and want to request a 24-hour bypass code, log in to netid.rowan.edu and skip to step 8):

  1. Go to netid.rowan.edu and click Unlock Your Account or Forgot NetID or Password

  2. Enter the requested biographical information to verify your account and click Submit

  3.  You'll be directed to a page asking if you have any of your enrolled Duo devices available. Click Proceed.

  4.  If you have a personal email address on file, you will be directed to a page that allows you to send a one-time passcode to that address. Click Send DUO Bypass Code.

  5. Select Other Options on the Duo login prompt.

  6. Select Bypass code on the next window.

  7.  Enter the passcode sent to your personal email address in the passcode field and click Log In.

  8. Now, you're logged in to Rowan NetID. Click Duo Devices in the left-hand navigation menu and click Request Bypass Code

  9.  Fill out the requested information and click Request Bypass Code

  10.  You'll be presented with a bypass code you can use for Duo authentication for up to 24 hours.
