NEW! The new, open RowanWiFi network now allows students and employees to get their personal devices online with no additional requirements. Visit go.rowan.edu/wifi for more information.

RowanSecure:

If you would like to connect to the encrypted RowanSecure network, you will still need to follow the instructions below:

In order to connect a computer to RowanSecure, devices must meet certain security requirements, including installing an anti-virus program, turning on automatic updates and registering through the ClearPass system. Follow the steps below to get your Windows computer connected to RowanSecure:

  1. Equip your computer with anti-virus software. For a list of recommended anti-virus software programs, visit the IRT website
  2. Check for updates. Make sure you have automatic updates enabled
  3. Install ClearPass. Download the automatic ClearPass installer for Windows and double-click the .exe file to install. This package will install the ClearPass OnGuard agent and add a connection for the RowanSecure wireless network. Click Run or Run Anyway when prompted. You can install ClearPass from on- or off-campus. If you ware unable to install the automatic installer, please complete the manual installation steps outlined below
  4. Connect to RowanSecure. Once you are on campus, choose RowanSecure from the list of available wireless networks, or connect via ethernet, and log in with your Rowan NetID. For more help, see our frequently asked questions about wireless connectivity

Manual Installation: From On-Campus Only

If you are unable to install the automatic ClearPass installer for Windows, take the following steps, which can only be completed while on campus. Note: If your computer is connected via ethernet, you can skip to step four.

  1. Click the wireless icon in the system tray.

  2. Click RowanSecure.
  3. Click Connect
  4. Navigate to any webpage in a browser, and you will be redirected to the ClearPass OnGuard Registration page.

  5. Click on the link to download the Windows OnGuard Agent
  6. Launch the downloaded file.
  7. Select your language and click OK

  8. Click Next to start the OnGuard agent installation.

  9. Click the checkbox to accept the terms of the license agreement and then click Install

    1. If your anti-virus software attempts to block the installation of ClearPass OnGuard, you will need to unblock the file. For example, if Trend Micro blocks ClearPass, click More details... and then click Unblock in the pop-up window.

    2. Then launch ClearPass by clicking on the ClearPass OnGuard icon on your desktop.

  10. You will be prompted to log in to ClearPass OnGuard. Enter your Rowan NetID.

  11. A scan will run to verify that your computer meets certain security requirements. You must have an up-to-date anti-virus program installed on your computer and automatic updates turned on to meet those requirements. You can right-click on the agent icon then click Restore to see the progress of the scan.

  12. When the agent is done scanning, you can close ClearPass OnGuard and connect to the Rowan Network.
