Issue
Connecting Linux computer to Rowan Network
Context
Students and employees connecting a Linux computer to Rowan Network
Solution
To connect to wireless on campus, select RowanSecure and log in with your Network username and password.
For wired connections, use the settings included in the image below. You will also need the CA certificate for OnGuard, which should be saved in your home directory.
When registering, only the network interface touching ClearPass is recorded. Linux machines do not download a scanning client and cannot present inactive interfaces.
Notes
- Registering while on wireless will not register your wired MAC address and registering on a wired connection will not register your wireless MAC address. In addition, if you do not use a network interface for more than two weeks it will become unregistered.
- There are no anti-virus or anti-spyware requirements for Linux users at this time.
- Linux users are not officially supported by the University.
- Linux users will receive limited internet access only, with few exceptions. To access other network resources, like your home directory or openarea, Linux users will need to use the VPN client at vpn2.rowan.edu.
