You are now able to export data from RIMS for use in creating a custom organizational chart. The comma-separated values (CSV) file containing your data can be used in Microsoft Visio, LucidChart, and other graphing software. This tutorial will guide you through the export process and demonstrate how your organizational chart can be imported into LucidChart and modified.

Navigate to the RIMS Org Chart page. Once you logged in to RIMS, choose your active position. Then go Identity Info > Org Chart.

Please see screenshot below.

In the Org Chart page, your Active Position is currently selected as the Root Position, but you may modify the Root Position by typing and searching in that field for the name or title of another individual. From the search results, select the position or person you want to appear at the top of your Organizational Chart.

Begin typing in the Root Position field to see a list of matching positions and individuals.

Also select the number of levels down from the Root Position you would like to have included in the export. Click Reload Chart to generate the Org Chart. Then click the Export to CSV button and a CSV file will be produced for you.

By default the CSV will be downloaded in your Downloads folder. Save the CSV file where you will be able to retrieve it for the next step.  When prompted to change the file type - keep it as a CSV file.

LucidChart is a web-based, graphing application that is available to you as a Rowan University employee. If you register for an account, please use your Rowan email address, or use Google authentication (provided you have recently accessed your Rowan Google Drive account).

If you are first time user of LucidChart, please visit this article for more information on LucidChart.

When you first go into Lucid, Select Blank then you will see the File menu.

Create a new LucidChart document. In the File menu, choose Import Data > Org Chart.

On the next screen, select Create one Org Chart for my entire organization, click on Finish.

After the wizard completes, you will see the default organizational chart for your data. You can modify this by directly manipulating the org chart objects, or use the tools at top left to change the overall layout of the chart and individual elements.

If preferred, you can have third-level positions appear vertically.

You can also choose which fields are displayed and turn off the photos if you prefer.

You can then save your organizational chart, share it with other team members, or export it to a PDF for printing.

To export into PDF or Image, go to File -> Download As -> PDF( or JPEG etc)
