IMPORTANT NOTES:
Cisco will be automatically upgrading Webex Meetings to the new Webex App for all users on November 15th.
Please see our article on Updating to the new Webex App for more information.
Existing persistent chat rooms in Jabber will be recreated in Webex by Tuesday, Nov. 15. The new rooms will not contain the chat history from Jabber, but the members of the Jabber rooms will be transferred to Webex. With the retirement of Jabber, the Webex App will become the officially supported instant messaging service for Rowan University.
As of Tuesday, Nov. 15, you can find the new chat rooms in the Webex App under Messaging > Spaces

- Add personal contacts - You can create a Contacts list, add up to 500 contacts of your choosing (including contacts that are local to your device), and then group them and customize the contact information.
- Once your contacts are populated, simply click the "Contacts" icon in the left pane of the app and search for the person you'd like to contact. You can quickly start an audio or video call, or open the contact for more options including direct messaging.
Webex Messaging (Jabber replacement)
- Send a Message In Webex, messages are used to chat with colleagues, and share content and ideas. You can send a message to someone directly or to a group within Spaces. Messages can include a maximum of 5400 characters.
- Start a one-on-one conversation For contacts that are Webex users, search for the contact you would like to message and open it to send a direct message. For group chats with 2 or more people, you will need to create a space for it.

- Create a Space: (Jabber Room replacement) In Webex, when you send a message to a group for the first time, you create a space for the group to talk. Spaces work best for a group of people collaborating on a specific topic or project. You can send messages, make calls, have video meetings, share files, and use whiteboards. The next time you message the group, your conversation picks right up where you've left it.
- NOTE: Jabber rooms that are transferred to Webex on November 15 can be found under Messaging > Spaces (or ALL)
- Add people to a space: You can invite anyone you'd like to either a Team or a Space! Each space can have a maximum of 5,000 people in it.
- If the individual is a Rowan user – Simply select the space you want to add them to, enter their name and select them from the list.
- If the individual is external to Rowan – Simply select the space you want add them to, enter their email address and press Enter to invite them. If the invited user doesn't have a Webex account already, they will receive an email from Cisco inviting them to join using the email address you entered.

Anyone with a Webex App account (on desktop, mobile, or web) can call anyone else with a Webex App account. It doesn't matter whether they're part of the Rowan University or what type of calling service they're set up with.
Your Rowan phone extension must be enabled to work within Webex to call phone numbers outside of Webex.
Please visit the Rowan Support Portal to submit a request.
If your phone number was already enabled in Jabber, you do not need to request it again - but you will need to connect your number in Webex by following the instructions below.
