How to Access the Linux Jump Server
Prerequisite – terminal emulator (SecureCRT for windows or terminal on macOS)
- Open a terminal emulator
- Connect to linuxjump.rowan.edu using SSH (ssh linuxjump.rowan.edu)
- Accept the “authenticity message” if you are prompted
- Login using your Rowan credentials**
After logging in via SSH and providing your password, you will receive a Duo prompt for the second factor as seen below:
$ ssh linuxjump.rowan.edu

Duo two-factor login for <username>
Enter a passcode or select one of the following options:
1. Duo Push to 856-XXX-XXXX
2. Phone call to 609-XXX-XXXX
3. SMS passcodes to 856-XXX-XXXX
Passcode or option (1-3):
At this point, you can open the Duo Mobile App on your phone and obtain a passcode to enter at the prompt or you can choose one of the following options:
- Option "1" to receive a Push on your registered Duo device
- Option "2" to receive a phone call on your Duo device which will provide you a password via voice to enter at the prompt
- Option "3" to have a passcode sent to your Duo device which can then be entered at the prompt
**If you receive a "Password or Authentication Failed" message when trying to login, Make sure the “Keyboard Interactive” option is at the top of the list under the SSH2 options:
