How to Access the Linux Jump Server


Prerequisite – terminal emulator (SecureCRT for windows or terminal on macOS)

  1. Open a terminal emulator
  2. Connect to linuxjump.rowan.edu using SSH (ssh linuxjump.rowan.edu)
  3. Accept the “authenticity message” if you are prompted
  4. Login using your Rowan credentials**

After logging in via SSH and providing your password, you will receive a Duo prompt for the second factor as seen below:


$ ssh linuxjump.rowan.edu

   WARNING NOTICE: This is a private system for use by Rowan University.

   The (actual or attempted) unauthorized access, use, or modification of

   this system is strictly prohibited.

***************************************************************************

Password:

Duo two-factor login for <username>

Enter a passcode or select one of the following options: 

  1. Duo Push to 856-XXX-XXXX

  2. Phone call to 609-XXX-XXXX

  3. SMS passcodes to 856-XXX-XXXX

Passcode or option (1-3):



At this point, you can open the Duo Mobile App on your phone and obtain a passcode to enter at the prompt or you can choose one of the following options:


**If you receive a "Password or Authentication Failed" message when trying to login, Make sure the “Keyboard Interactive” option is at the top of the list under the SSH2 options:
