Sharing OneDrive files with external users (guests) allows you to securely collaborate with people outside Rowan University such as vendors, clients, or customers — with or without a Microsoft account.
The recipients' experience depends on the email address where the link is sent and the account they use to view the file.
Anonymous link sharing is turned off for Rowan University's OneDrive as of 2/02/22.

Create a link for secured sharing
Right-click the file you want to share and select Share
or open the file and click Share in the upper right corner.
Enter the user's email address. If they are a Rowan user or have a Microsoft account, make sure you enter the address that is associated with that account and click Enter on your keyboard.
Click the down-arrow next to the "Edit" pencil icon and choose the level of access the guest should have. Enter a message if you'd like and then click Send to email the invitation.
The first time you share a file with an external guest they will need to verify their identity before they can view the content. If your guest does not receive the sharing notification, please have them check their SPAM folder.
Once your guest accesses the file, you will receive an email notification that looks like this:
You can also refer to Microsoft's instructions to see who a file is already shared with.
Guests Without a Microsoft Account
Guests don't need a Microsoft account in order to verify their identity. They will receive a code to enter into a verification screen in order to open the file. The content is secured and the link won't work if it's forwarded to others – it only works for people you specified when you shared the file.

Note that in some cases the recipient may need to follow the previous verification steps and provide a passcode instead of signing in.
