Email Students in One Section of Given Course


If you would like to send email to all students in ONE section of a given course, address the message to:

section-<subjectcode>-<coursenumber>-<sectionnumber>@lists.rowan.edu
 

For example, if you want to send email to all students in one Computer Literacy section, look up the information you'll need to do so in the course catalog:


 
 

Then address your email to: section-cs-01100-3@lists.rowan.edu

Note: Emails to any directed mailing list must have the address in the TO or CC field. If you put the directed email address in the BCC field, the message will fail to send. 

Use Section Tally to look up a subject code, course number or section number. 

  



Email Students in All Sections of Given Course
 

If you would like to send email to all students in ALL SECTIONS of a given course, address the message to:

course-<subjectcode>-<coursenumber>@lists.rowan.edu

For example, if you want to send email to all students in every Computer Literacy section, look up the information you'll need to do so in the course catalog:

 


 

Then address your email to: course-cs-01100@lists.rowan.edu

Note: Emails to any directed mailing list must have the address in the TO or CC field. If you put the directed email address in the BCC field, the message will fail to send.

Email Students in Given Major

If you would like to send email to every student in a given major, address the message to: 

 

major-<four digit major code>@lists.rowan.edu

 

A copy of that message will go to everyone that has that four-digit major code as their primary or secondary major.

For example, sending an email to "major-1501@lists.rowan.edu" will mail all English majors.

NOTE: Emails to any directed mailing list must have the address in the TO or CC field. If you put the directed email address in the BCC field, the message will fail to send.

Email Students in Particular Year of Given Major

If you would like to send email to every student of a particular year in a given major, address the message to: 

 

<year code>-<four digit major code>@lists.rowan.edu

 

A copy of that message will go to everyone that has that four-digit major code as their primary or secondary major and is in that particular year.

Year codes arefr for first-year, so for sophomores, jr for juniors, sr for seniors and gr for graduate students.

For example, sending email to "so-0906@lists.rowan.edu" will mail all sophomore Chemical Engineering majors.

NOTE: Emails to any directed mailing list must have the address in the TO or CC field. If you put the directed email address in the BCC field, the message will fail to send.

Email Students in Given Minor


If you would like to send email to every student in a given minor, address the message to:
 

minor-<four digit minor code>@lists.rowan.edu

A copy of that message will go to everyone that has that four-digit minor code as their primary or secondary minor.

For example, sending email to "minor-m102@lists.rowan.edu" will mail all French minors.

NOTE: Emails to any directed mailing list must have the address in the TO or CC field. If you put the directed email address in the BCC field, the message will fail to send.

A copy of that message will go to everyone that has that four-digit concentration code.

For example, sending email to "concentration-c008@lists.rowan.edu" will mail all students with a Dance concentration.

NOTE: Emails to any directed mailing list must have the address in the TO or CC field. If you put the directed email address in the BCC field, the message will fail to send.

Email Students in Particular Year of Given Concentration



If you would like to send email to every student of a particular year in a given concentration, address the message to:
 

concentrationbyyear-<year code>-<four digit concentration code>@lists.rowan.edu

 

A copy of that message will go to everyone that has that four-digit concentration code and is in that particular year.

Year codes arefr for first-year, so for sophomores, jr for juniors, sr for seniors and gr for graduate students.

For example, sending email to "concentrationbyyear-sr-c506@lists.rowan.edu" will mail all seniors with a Creative Writing concentration.

NOTE: Emails to any directed mailing list must have the address in the TO or CC field. If you put the directed email address in the BCC field, the message will fail to send.

Email Students in Specific Residence Hall


If you would like to send email to every student in a specific Residence Hall, address the message to:
 

dorm-<dorm code>@lists.rowan.edu

 

A copy of that message will go to everyone that lives in that Residence Hall.

For example, sending email to "dorm-mimosa@lists.rowan.edu" will mail all students that live in Mimosa Hall.

NOTE: Emails to any directed mailing list must have the address in the TO or CC field. If you put the directed email address in the BCC field, the message will fail to send.

When Are Student Directed Mailing Lists Updated?

The student directed mailing lists are updated 14 days before the first day of the semester. Students must be coded for the correct semester to be included in the list. If they are coded by the Registrar for a future semester, they will not appear in the applicable directed mailing list. Once the lists are updated 14 days prior to the start of the semester, the lists are then updated every night with any changes. This applies to all semesters.

The lists are cleared seven days after the end of the semester.

 

NOTE:  Student Directed Mailing Lists should not be used to send Qualtrics surveys.  If you need a list of students, complete the ASA Request Form.
