When registering your gaming console, smart home device or other entertainment device on rowan.edu/device in order to connect it to the Rowan network you will need your device's MAC address.  

Instructions for finding the MAC address for some of the most common entertainment devices at Rowan University are provided in the chart below.

Once you have registered your device, connect it to the new, open RowanWiFi wireless network or secure wired network. Check your device's documentation for help with connecting to the internet.

  1. From the Main Menu go to Settings
  2. Select "System"
  3. Then go to "About"
  4. Toggle down to Network
  5. Look for the MAC Address (Wi-Fi)
Amazon Echo/AlexaIn most casesYes
  1. Download the Amazon Alexa app to a phone or computer (It’s free for iOS, Android and Fire OS)
  2. Sign in with your Amazon Account
  3. From that phone or computer, connect to the wireless network transmitted by the Echo device.
  4. The wireless MAC address for Echo can be found at the bottom of the Echo Setup screen in the Alexa app.
Apple TVYes YesFrom the main menu, choose Settings and then click About. Look for the MAC address next to "Ethernet ID." 
Alternatively, you may find the MAC address printed on the UPC label on the Apple TV box.
Blu-ray PlayersYes 
  1. Press Home, Setup and then Network
  2. Choose the Connection Status option
  3. The MAC address should be listed.
ChromeCastYes 
  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. Tap your Chromecast device. Settings .
  3. Scroll down to the bottom and look for your MAC address.
Google Home MiniNoGoogle Home devices are not currently supported, but we are working to resolve the issue
  1. Ensure you have the Google Home application installed on your smartphone or mobile device.
  2. Open the application and set up your Google Home.
  3. To obtain the MAC Address, click the three lines on the top left inside the application.
  4. Select Devices, and then select your Google Home.
  5. Click on Settings, scroll down to information, and your MAC Address should be revealed.
RokuYes  YesFrom the Roku home screen, select Settings and then About. The MAC address will appear on your screen. 
Alternatively, you can find the MAC address on the bottom or back of your Roku.
TiVoYes From the TiVo Menu, select Settings and then choose Phone/Network. Your MAC address will appear on the page that opens.
Nintendo 3DS/XLYesYesSystem Settings > Internet Settings > Other Information > Confirm Mac Address
Nintendo SwitchYesYesSelect System Settings from the Home Menu.  Scroll down through the menu and select Internet.  The Nintendo Switch console's Mac address will be listed under System Mac address.
Nintendo WiiYes 

Online services have been discontinued but Netflix etc. should still work.

  1. Start your Wii without a disc.
  2. Click the Wii button at the bottom of the start screen.
  3. Click Wii Settings.
  4. Go to the Next Set of settings by selecting the arrow on the right.
  5. Click Internet.
  6. Select Console information.
  7. The MAC Address will then come up on the next page.
Nintendo Wii UYes 
  1. Go to System Settings.
  2. Tap on the Internet settings button.
  3. Select the View MAC Address option.
  4. You should now see your Wii U’s MAC address. 
PlayStation 3Yes 
  1. Start the PlayStation 3 with no disc inserted
  2. Select the System Settings icon and push the "X" button 
  3. Select System Information and push the "X" button 
  4. The third line will be the MAC Address
PlayStation 4Yes Yes
  1. From the main menu, select "Settings" (located on the upper right)
  2. Select "Network"
  3. Select "View Connection Status"
  4. Scroll down until the MAC addresses are visible
Xbox 360Yes 
  1. From the Xbox Dashboard, go to My Xbox (select the Xbox logo on the controller) > Settings > System Settings
  2. Select Network Settings
  3. Select Wired Network or Wireless Network based on your connection to the internet
  4. Once you are in the correct network tab, Select Configure Network > Additional Settings > Advanced Settings
  5. The 12 digit MAC address will be listed at the bottom of the screen
Xbox OneYes Yes
  • Navigate to the "Settings" page
  • Select "Network"
  • Select "Advanced Settings"
  • The MAC address will be displayed on the right side of the screen
