Student Separation Checklist: Rowan NetID and Email

Students maintain access to their Rowan NetID and email address for one year after they leave the university due to graduation or other reasons. We encourage students to take the following steps before their account and email address expire:

  1. Establish a personal email account. If you do not already have one, establish a personal email account with another provider, such as Google (gmail.com) or Microsoft (outlook.com).
  2. Inform your contacts of your personal email address. If you are using your Rowan University email to communicate with personal contacts, let them know your personal address.
  3. Update any websites or accounts with your personal email address. If you are using your Rowan University email address with any financial e.g. Venmo, retail, travel, work, or healthcare websites, log in to them and change your email address to your personal email address as soon as possible.
  4. Save any personal email messages and contacts. If you have personal email messages, contacts or other personal data stored in your Rowan University email account, forward that information to your new email address or otherwise retain a copy. For help exporting your contacts from Gmail, please see this article.
  5. Save any personal documents in Rowan systems, such as photos. If you have personal files saved in your home directory (including personal websites created in the public.www folder) or Rowan Google Drive account, forward that information to your new email address or otherwise retain a copy.
  6. Save a copy of documents such as an unofficial transcript. The Self-Service Banner transcript is considered to be an active student's unofficial transcript.  You may access it by logging in to Self-Service, clicking the "Student" tab, selecting "Student Records," and then "Academic Transcript." This page can be printed or screenshotted to send electronically.
  7. Disable access or remove any public content you may have created such as YouTube videos. If you have videos or other content that is publicly accessible, consider disabling access or removing the content.
  8. Share your new email address with Rowan. Allow Rowan University to keep in touch with you by updating your alumni profile at http://alumni.rowan.edu/update. You may also email your updated contact information directly to alumniupdate@rowan.edu
  9. Subscribe to the Rowan Daily Mail. If you want to continue to receive the Rowan Daily Mail (aka Rowan Announcer), send a request to support@rowan.edu that includes your personal email address.
  10. Update your contact information for Rowan Magazine. If you wish to keep receiving Rowan Magazine and need to update your home address, please update your alumni profile at http://alumni.rowan.edu/update or email alumniupdate@rowan.edu.

If you need assistance with your Rowan NetID, please contact the Technology Support Center by calling 856-256-4400 or submitting a ticket in the IRT Support Portal
