Affiliates at Rowan University receive privileges to Rowan University resources based on the guidance from their sponsor. These privileges can include RowanCard access to a university building, a Rowan NetID account or a Rowan University email address. If your privileges include a Rowan NetID and/or Rowan University email address and there are no errors or delays with your affiliate form, your account will be available 24 hours after you complete the affiliate form.
This article provides instructions for new Rowan University students to activate their Rowan NetID, find their Banner ID and access their email for the first time.

Activate Your Rowan NetID
Your Rowan NetID is your key to accessing online Rowan University services. With your Rowan NetID, you can log in to Canvas, RowanWiFi, Self-Service Banner, Google Drive, your Rowan email and Rowan-managed computers in computer labs and elsewhere.
To activate your NetID:
- Go to netid.rowan.edu
- Select First Time Users
- Enter the requested biographical information to verify your account and click Submit.
NOTE: If you do not have a Social Security number on file with Rowan University, you may leave the field blank. - You will be prompted to enroll in Duo two-factor authentication. Select Enroll Mobile Phone to set up the Duo Mobile app on your device. This is the most secure way to verify your identity at Rowan, and the option we recommend. We also encourage you to enroll a hardware token as a backup device.
- You'll be directed to the Duo portal to complete enrollment. Follow their instructions to complete enrollment, and use their directions for help.
- You will be prompted to authenticate through Duo using the device you added. For help using Duo, see our article on logging in using Duo.
- Navigate to the Contact Management page and enroll a Recovery Email, at a minimum. This should be a personal email address that can be used in the event that you have forgotten your password, are locked out of your account, or your multi-factor authentication device is unavailable.
NOTE: It is also a good idea to enroll in our emergency contact system, RAVE. This may be required depending on your role at the University. - Finally, you will be able to update your password by using the Update Password button in the navigation panel. If there are any other missing requirements for your account, you will be notified on this page. Enter and verify your new password, and click Update Password.
- Your Rowan NetID is now ready to use!
Locating Your Banner ID
Rowan University assigns a unique nine-digit Banner ID number to every member of the Rowan community. You may be asked for your Banner ID when submitting internal forms and applications or to help verify your identity.
Affiliates should contact their sponsor for their Banner ID.
Accessing Your Email
If you are provided access to Rowan University email, you may access it through Outlook for the Web, Outlook for desktop or the Outlook Mobile app.
Your email address is your NetID username plus @rowan.edu. You can find your email address at netid.rowan.edu.
- Log in to netid.rowan.edu with your Rowan NetID.
- Your email address is located in the "My Information" section.
