Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine’s Application Portal: Getting Started
Overview
The SSVM application portal allows prospective students to apply online to the Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine. In this article, you will learn how to navigate the application and where to locate other training resources.

Accessing the Application Portal
Returning Applicants
If you have already started an application, visit the custom link provided in the email sent to you when you started your application.
First-Time Applicants
To begin, visit the application portal: go.rowan.edu/SSVMApplication
Click Start Application to access the application form and follow the instructions.
Overview of the application
The SSVM application is comprised of four sections:
- Personal Information
- Academic Information
- Supporting Information
- Review Application
Important Notes
A red asterisk (*) marks required fields throughout the application. Even though optional fields are not required, the information may be helpful to admissions officers. If applicable, provide the optional information.
Application Sections
1. Personal Information.
Note: A unique ID will be generated when data is saved.
Legal Name
This field is for your full legal name as it appears on legal, government-issued documents.
Email address
Use an email address that you check frequently to avoid missing important updates.
Phone number
Use a phone number that you are actively using to avoid missing important information.
Alternate Phone Number
Enter an alternate phone number where you can be reached in the event your primary phone is not reachable.
Alternate Email
Enter an alternate email where you can be reached in the event your main email is not functional.
State Residency
Enter whether or not you are a New Jersey resident.
Legal Sex
Legal Sex field is required for reporting purposes to the US Federal government, using these values only. Select the appropriate option (Female, Male, X, Decline to State).
Gender Identity
If your gender identity differs from your legal sex, use this section to indicate your gender.
Birth Information
Enter your birth information in this section - date of birth in MM/DD/YYYY format.
Current Address
Enter the address where you want to receive mail correspondence. Be sure to keep this section up to date as you complete and submit your application.
United States Citizenship Details
Select your US citizenship status, country of citizenship, country of birth and city of birth.
Residency Information
Provide your residency information, including your legal state of residence.
Visa Information
If you currently have a US Visa, select Yes, and enter all visa information.
Ethnicity
Indicate whether you consider yourself to be of Hispanic or Latino origin. This question is optional.
Race
Select one or more of the groups of which you consider yourself to be a member. This question is optional.
Language Proficiency
State your first language and English proficiency test and score (if applicable).
Military Status
If you have US military experience, select your anticipated status at the time of enrollment from the drop-down. Select "Not a member of the military" if this does not apply.
Academic Information
Indicate whether you have ever been disciplined for academic performance or for student conduct violations.
Previous Attendance at a Professional Program
Indicate whether you previously enrolled in or attended a veterinary school, medical school, law school, or other professional degree program. Include enrollment in any post-baccalaureate veterinary preparatory program with the intent to earn a professional degree.
Pell Eligibility
Are you a recipient of a Pell Grant or Pell eligible?
First Generation College Student
Indicate if you are a first-generation student, meaning that neither parent/legal guardian has attended college.
Background Information
Check if any of the following apply to you:
- English is not my primary language.
- I am from a family that receives public assistance or I receive public assistance.
- I dropped out of high school and received an AHS diploma or GED.
- I graduated from a high school from which a low percentage of seniors receive a high school diploma.
- None apply.
Explanation Statement
Use this optional section to provide any relevant information not covered elsewhere in your application that you believe is important for the admissions committee(s) to know about you. Please ensure your explanation is clear, concise, and does not exceed 3,000 characters (including spaces).
2. Academic Information.
Colleges and Universities Attended
Type and select your college or university.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites are typically a mix of math, science, social science, and humanities-based courses. Be sure to provide all information requested in the format indicated.
3. Supporting Information
Letters of Recommendation
Please provide the names, roles, and contact information for three recommenders who can speak to your candidacy for the SSVM DVM program. Please note that once you provide email addresses for your recommenders and save this page, they will automatically be contacted. Once saved, you will not have the option to change your recommenders so please be sure that you have confirmed that this person will be providing you with a recommendation.
Essay
You will be required to submit two essay responses. We advise you save your essays in another document and then copy and paste into the application in order to reduce the risk of data loss.
Experiences
Enter your professional experiences in several categories, or types, in this section.
Achievements
Enter any relevant professional or academic achievements in several categories, or types, in this section.
4. Review Application and submit.
Review your application before submitting.
Once the application form is submitted you will be directed to this screen for the next steps.
Common Issues
Problem: I cannot save the application
- Check for required fields. Make sure you have entered all required information, which is marked with an asterisk (*).
- Check for entry restrictions. Each field may have limits on the number of characters or the format of the information you can enter.
- Follow instructions. Make sure you are following the on-screen instructions for entering information.
- If you have entered all the information correctly and there are no errors, but you still can't save, you can contact the Technology Support Center at 856-256-4400, or submit a ticket in the Rowan Support Portal. You can explain the situation and ask for advice on what to do next.
Problem: How to access saved applications?
- If you have already started and saved an application, please visit your email to get access to the application.
Problem: What happens when I submit my application?
- Once you submit your application you will no longer be able to access and change information on it. Be sure you review it carefully before you submit. Please note that your application is not considered complete until your transcripts and letters of recommendation are received and your payment is made.
